Frage
01

In your opinion, which social issues receive too little attention?

Too many! One example: the situation of young adults is not being taken seriously enough. Many are (rightly!) critical about the future, too many are without education or work and susceptible to anti-democratic sentiments. Social policy must help to improve this crucial phase of life.

Frage
02

Which social policy term urgently needs to be revised or abolished?

The saying “Social is whatever creates jobs” should be consigned to the dustbin of history. Gainful employment is not social per se. It must meet certain standards, including living wages and appropriate working conditions.

I already have one ;)

Minimum Living Standard in Germany

What do people need financially to live comfortably? The Minimum Income Standard (MIS) in the UK attempts to answer this question: expert-supported focus groups create a fictitious basket of goods and services, the value of which is then quantified. This results in a budget for a comfortable life. So far, there are no comparable figures for Germany. The Minimum Living Standard project aims to change this.

The Minimum Living Standard

When it comes to citizen's income and minimum wage, there is often a lack of realistic reference values. Data is needed on what people need to live a decent life. Greater participation can make needs visible and legitimise decisions.
