Torben Fischer is not only responsible for planning and managing projects at the ZSP, he is also in charge of designing and developing studies and projects.

At the interface between science and politics, he contributes his many years of experience in research and consulting. In addition to his work at the ZSP, Torben is currently finalizing his doctoral thesis in the field of European Union social policy.

In your opinion, which social issues receive too little attention?

Too many! One example: the situation of young adults is not being taken seriously enough. Many are (rightly!) critical about the future, too many are without education or work and susceptible to anti-democratic sentiments. Social policy must help to improve this crucial phase of life.

Which social policy term urgently needs to be revised or abolished?

The saying “Social is whatever creates jobs” should be consigned to the dustbin of history. Gainful employment is not social per se. It must meet certain standards, including living wages and appropriate working conditions.
