Laura Bänsch supports the ZSP as a project assistant. With in-depth research and daily monitoring, she keeps track of the socio-political situation.

In addition to her work at the ZSP, she is studying political science at the University of Potsdam, where she is pursuing a master’s degree.

Who or what has had a particular influence on your career?

My decision to study politics and work in the political arena was strongly influenced by my family. Values such as justice, solidarity, and social cohesion always played a central role in our everyday life (for example, at dinner). I wanted to pursue this further through my career path.

What topics would you like to help shape in the future?

Social policy has long been exploited by some political actors to create social division. I want to help ensure that social policy issues are once again discussed constructively and understood as the basis for social cohesion.

What hobby would you like to pursue if you had more time?

I would love to cycle more—preferably long distances through beautiful landscapes. I imagine that would be incredibly liberating. And after every tour, I would of course make sure to stop for a nice slice of cake.
