Question
01

How can a socially just energy transition be achieved?

By moving away from individual, business-oriented optimization and toward a common path. Local authorities are the players that historically built gas networks and district heating systems and will also build the electricity grids and local heating systems of the future.

Question
02

What opportunities arise when we consistently consider social and environmental issues together?

Social climate policy can be fair from the outset. Until now, climate policy has redistributed wealth from the bottom up, and social policy has had to iron out the consequences. In the process, the middle class loses out. At the same time, a new, modern social policy can relieve local authorities of administrative burdens and costs, giving them more scope for action in the energy transition.

Question
03

What are you focusing on in your Policy Fellowship?

What could a new, modern social policy look like? I want to continue thinking about this with the exciting minds at ZSP.
